Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
ceramic artist and potter in Tucson, Arizona.
I work in the medium of stoneware clay and make hand-built pottery, sculpture, hamsas, ornaments, masks, and a variety of other forms.
I’m a self-taught autistic artist working in my medium for over twenty years. I like monsters, insects, weird animals, body horror, folk horror, horror comedy, horror in general, Halloween decorations, fast food mascots, kitsch – all of these creep into my work, but there’s really no overarching theme.
I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Alice Donut Coins 2
These are clay coins with lyrics from songs by Alice Donut, a mutant punk band from New York. The first time I tried these I used manganese dioxide to blacken the letters and it didn't show through the glaze. This time I used black slip and scraped the glaze out of the letters.
"Roaches in the sink" from "Roaches in the Sink"
"Forks in the road" from "Bucket, Forks, Pock"
"Act of sheer stupidity" from "My Severed Head"
"Her head could spin" from "Green Pea Soup"
"Esto no es una vida" from "Dreaming in Cuban"
"Don't be grim" from "Lorelei and Henry"
"Lactate Sin Free" from "Mother of Christ"
Three other coins without lyrics:

Finished Tiger Column
I don't have a four-year-old. My purpose for posting this is to determine when it's ready to fire.

Alice Donut Coins
These are ceramic coins with lyrics from Alice Donut songs. I carefully filled in the letters with manganese dioxide with an off-white glaze on top of it, but I must have glazed it too thickly because you can't see the black lettering at all.
"Roaches in the Sink"
"Forks in the road" from "Bucket, Fork, Pock"
"Lactate Sin-Free" from "Mother of Christ"
"Downsizing my personality" from "The Better Me"
"An act of sheer stupidity" from "My Severed Head"

This is a grotesque, vaguely human head on a grotesque, vaguely rat-like body. It's Brown Jenkin from the H.P. Lovecraft short story "The Dreams in the Witch House"

Rhino Wraith WIP
Finished Rhino Wraith
I bought some African mammal toys at a thrift store a few years ago and I've been looking for an excuse to use them. That's all this is: an excuse to model a rhinoceros head. I'm calling it a wraith because it has a flattened, sheet-like, flying-squirrel-like body and cylindrical protrusions suggesting ribs.
