Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
potter and ceramic artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Self-taught and neurodivergent, he has worked in the medium of stoneware clay for 21 years, developing a practice rooted in literal construction and obsessive repetition. He makes non-traditional ceramics in a medium built on tradition, exploring the overlap between wonder and revulsion. Subject matter includes sympathetic monsters, insects, opossums, fast food mascots, and Halloween kitsch.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Black and White Column

This is a column sculpture with a primitive sculpted face.

Tardigrade 18 WIP

This is the first of a new series of tardigrades.  This one has big feet.  The facial features are not actually facial features, but they're based on an electron microscope image of a tardigrade that appears to have facial features.

Embryo Pot

This is a slab pot with the facial features of a 5-week-old human embryo.  I also made a mug with the same design.  Yes, it looks like a penis, but so did your head when you were a 5-week-old embryo.
