Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
ceramic artist and potter in Tucson, Arizona.
I work in the medium of stoneware clay and make hand-built pottery, sculpture, hamsas, ornaments, masks, and a variety of other forms.
I’m a self-taught autistic artist working in my medium for over twenty years. I like monsters, insects, weird animals, body horror, folk horror, horror comedy, horror in general, Halloween decorations, fast food mascots, kitsch – all of these creep into my work, but there’s really no overarching theme.
I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Revenge of the Winged Tacos WIP
My other flying taco sculpture fell over and lost a wing. This is the replacement, painted with yellow slip for realism.

Winged Tacos WIP
These are for the banner on my food porn blog.
I made this one as you would make a real taco, by filling it was delicious clay fillings and then folding it over, but I was worried that air could be trapped inside, so I destroyed it.
This is the replacement. The fillings only appear to fill the taco. It's all a grand illusion that you can't see in this image anyway.
Here's a flat version.

Cymbal Chimp WIP
This is one of the items for the shelf in Jesús's closet in the Angry Mophead story and also in keeping with the primate theme of the Hierophant Tarot card. I considered giving him genitals, but I settled for a bulge.

Pope Mandrill II for the Hierophant Tarot Card
This is based on a Byzantine religious icon of Holy Hierarch Lev the Pope of Rome
The book he's holding is based on the Necronomicon prop from the Evil Dead movies. I made a few alternate books, but I like the one he's holding better.

Furious Ape Stars
I'm using an old press mold of an angry ape face molded from a Spawn universe action figure in the primate-themed Hierophant Tarot card. I had made these Furious Ape Stars in 2011 and decided to retry them now that I've completed my MFA. Joking about the degree. Outsider and fucking smug about it.

Good Primate, Bad Primate
Hamadryas Baboon, the good primate. Everyone loves a baboon.
Shit-flinging primate. Fuck this species of primate.

Baboon Minion Children for the Hierophant Tarot Card
The three cards representing Timothy Leary's Second (Emotional-Territorial) Circuit, PRIESTESS-EMPEROR-HIEROPHANT, all have attendant minion children. The source image appears below.
These ones look pretty bad. I'm also not happy with how the glazes came out.
