Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
potter and ceramic artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Self-taught and neurodivergent, he has worked in the medium of stoneware clay for 21 years, developing a practice rooted in literal construction and obsessive repetition. He makes non-traditional ceramics in a medium built on tradition, exploring the overlap between wonder and revulsion. Subject matter includes sympathetic monsters, insects, opossums, fast food mascots, and Halloween kitsch.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Eraserhead Wedding Planter

9/24/19

This one broke on the way to the kiln.  The large column with the baby on it was too heavy to be supported by the base of the pot.  I fired the surviving pieces anyway and eventually glazed it.

Probably for the best that this didn't end up as a wedding gift.

My friend's daughter is getting married.  I've known her since she was 5.  I'm not going to the fucking wedding, but this is my wedding gift. I like how I completely failed to capture Henry's face shape and stunned expression.  I like how the cursive writing took hours. I love how the Lady in the Radiator looks terrifying instead of adorable.  I like how little room there is for plants.  It's a horrible wedding gift.
