Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
ceramic artist and potter in Tucson, Arizona.

I work in the medium of stoneware clay and make hand-built pottery, sculpture, hamsas, ornaments, masks, and a variety of other forms.

I’m a self-taught autistic artist working in my medium for over twenty years. I like monsters, insects, weird animals, body horror, folk horror, horror comedy, horror in general, Halloween decorations, fast food mascots, kitsch – all of these creep into my work, but there’s really no overarching theme.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Added the teeth. Added support structures on the back. Still feels flimsy.

Filled in the area around the eyes.

The hat was looking comically small and the hair was also out of proportion. Replaced both. It's getting big and it's composed of many pieces. These things make the journey to the kiln and beyond a treacherous one.

Started a new version, but I wanted to make his face fatter because my brain wants to believe that Lon Chaney had chubby cheeks.

Now the face is wider, but the hat and hair look comically small.

The Man in the Beaver Hat broke in the bisque kiln. There was a note that said something had moved in the firing, which I'm taking to mean that something fell on it.
